song in my head right now
on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 9:39pm
Lord I love to sing your praises
I'm so glad you are in my life
I'm so glad you came to save us.
You came from heaven to earth, to show the way
From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord I lift your name on high.
Chorus.
You came from heaven to earth, to show the way
From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord I lift your name on high.
Lord I lift your name on high
I love to tell the story
on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 10:38am
of unseen things above,
of Jesus and his glory,
of Jesus and his love.
I love to tell the story,
because I know 'tis true;
it satisfies my longings
as nothing else can do.
Refrain:
I love to tell the story,
'twill be my theme in glory,
to tell the old, old story
of Jesus and his love.
2. I love to tell the story;
more wonderful it seems
than all the golden fancies
of all our golden dreams.
I love to tell the story,
it did so much for me;
and that is just the reason
I tell it now to thee.
(Refrain)
3. I love to tell the story;
'tis pleasant to repeat
what seems, each time I tell it,
more wonderfully sweet.
I love to tell the story,
for some have never heard
the message of salvation
from God's own holy Word.
(Refrain)
4. I love to tell the story,
for those who know it best
seem hungering and thirsting
to hear it like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory,
I sing the new, new song,
'twill be the old, old story
that I have loved so long.
(Refrain)

The Lily of the Valley
on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 12:22pm
I have found a friend in Jesus, He’s everything to me,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.
In sorrow He’s my comfort, in trouble He’s my stay;
He tells me every care on Him to roll.
Refrain
He’s the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.
He all my grief has taken, and all my sorrows borne;
In temptation He’s my strong and mighty tower;
I have all for Him forsaken, and all my idols torn
From my heart and now He keeps me by His power.
Though all the world forsake me, and Satan tempt me sore,
Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal.
Refrain
He will never, never leave me, nor yet forsake me here,
While I live by faith and do His blessèd will;
A wall of fire about me, I’ve nothing now to fear,
From His manna He my hungry soul shall fill.
Then sweeping up to glory to see His blessèd face,
Where the rivers of delight shall ever roll.
Refrain
Words: Charles W. Fry, 1881; first appeared in the Salvation Army’s The War Cry, December 29, 1881. Fry wrote the lyrics in Lincoln, England, while working with the Salvation Army there.

My dad at Christmas time. A tradition born
Thinking about and missing my dad this Christmas. He was born May 28, 1935 and died May 7, 2008 We never saw a lot of each other, but when we did I absorbed our time together like a sponge. We were so similar that I could tell him anything and he always knew where I was coming from. You'd think I would miss him more on his birthday or something. But not for us, our special time was Christmas. We were the ones that kept the Christ in Christmas. while every one else was running around frantic because of this or that, having to figure out where to go, what to have, who gets what etc. Dad and I always took the time to talk about God. Our favorite was always setting up the nativity. Dad would talk about the area Jesus was born, what animals were there. How long it probably took the wise man because "they didn't just run out and all jump into the pick up truck you know." How the star was an amazing phenomenon that man might be able to explain with super nova or planet alignment. But the real reason it happened is because God planned for it to happen. things like that. I put up my nativity sets and that is the time I really miss him and miss that we don't have kids. So this year has been really special because now I have two really good friends that let me tell their boys about Christmas. I actually started it last year with Alex (he's three now) and then added Jace to my list of special people who get to share my dad's well actually the bible stories of the nativity. In a way it's like sharing him.
